Gentlemen, 

I typically do not make prayer requests frankly because my problems are my own fault.

But my Mother-in-law has recently been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. We do not have all of the information yet but it doesn't look good.

I have been praying for strength for my wife who is an only child and distraught. And praying that my MIL lives the longest comfortable life possible. If you guys have room for them in your prayers I would be grateful.

Keep up the good work, I have loved the show and look forward to meeting you guys at some point.

I’m having a coyote problem and am looking for a night vision scope. I’m not going to use it to hunt beyond my property which is on a few acres. What’s a good night vision scope up to 100 yards that won’t be subject to too much abuse? I’m planning on using a standard AR-15 platform with .223 reloads.

On Oct. 22, a Virginia man allegedly forced his way into an apartment after 9 p.m. when a tenant shot him in the leg, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, who fled the scene on foot, was apprehended nearby by police less than an hour later. After being treated for minor injuries, the suspect was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny. The suspect reportedly knew the tenant and had a criminal history. The armed citizen is disabled and acted in self-defense, according to investigators. (wjhl.com, Johnson City, Tenn., 10/22/2019; wcyb.com, Bristol, Va., 10/23/2019

Suspect Shot Dead After Reported Canyon Country Robbery At Liquor Store

Deputies are investigating an incident in Canyon Country where one was shot and killed during a reported robbery Sunday night.

UPDATE: 8 a.m. — Deputies from the Santa Clarita Station received a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered an individual adult male entered the location with the intent to rob it.

There was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the victim/store owner. Both the suspect and victim were struck, according to Sheriff’s officials. 

UPDATE:  10 p.m. — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are responding to Golden Valley Road, Canyon Country, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult and the wounding of another male adult, according to an official statement from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials.

The suspect was pronounced at the scene and the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Hey Doug. Hope all is well with you and your family. God has been wanting me to tell you something that my dad told me some years back. I was having a hard time wrapping my mind around the word eternity.  

      This is what he said. A man standing on top of Mt Everest is holding a silk cloth in his hand. Every 1000 years he drags that silk cloth across the top of the mountain. By the time he wares that mountain down to the sands of time. Eternity has not even began. 

     Not sure why god has been putting that on my heart lately. Maybe you will choose to share it on the podcast or maybe not. God works in mysterious ways. I believe someone needs to hear this.  Bless both you and troy. Keep it up.

Armed CitizenDeputies: Homeowner shoots suspect trying to break into home

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) - The man injured in a Saturday night shooting was trying to break into an Irmo home, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Joseph James Harkless, 21, is charged with three counts of attempted murder, as well as grand larceny, the department said.

According to deputies, the shooting happened Saturday night at a home in the 200 block of Concord Place.

Deputies said Harkless tried to get into the home by shooting a glass patio door. 

That's when the homeowner grabbed a gun from inside the home and shot Harkless, hitting him in the upper body, deputies said.

WACH FOX News obtained an incident report that showed a breakup led to the 21-year-old suspect opening fire. 

Investigators talked to a 49-year-old man who lives there, who said he was watching TV with his wife and daughter when he heard someone knocking on the door. He then heard gunshots. 

According to the report, Harkless threatened to shoot his ex and her entire family.

The department said Harkless ran from the home and stole a running vehicle from the driveway next door. According to deputies, he drove to a nearby hotel and asked them to call 911.

Harkless is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.Wrap Up:

Elderly Man in Wheelchair Shoots Alleged Burglar who said “Give Me That Gun before You Hurt Yourself, Old Man”

A retired, elderly man in a wheelchair shot his rifle inside his Arkansas home at an alleged intruder with an extensive criminal history, Capt. Preston Williams, of the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department, told America’s 1st Freedom.The elderly man was awakened in his home Sept. 17 by loud noise around 3 a.m., and found a stranger in his living room.The homeowner asked the apparent intruder to leave, but the man ignored him and instead began to fix himself some food and drink.Despite the homeowner’s repeated order to leave the premises, the alleged burglar began to unplug a living room TV.According to Capt. Williams, the homeowner then grabbed his Remington Speedmaster .22 long rifle and once more asked the intruder to leave.But the man reportedly responded: “Give me that gun before you hurt yourself, old man.”The homeowner then fired at the man one time, striking him in the leg. The alleged intruder fled from the house immediately, said Capt. Williams.When officers arrived, the suspect was found across the street and transported to a hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. Once his injuries were treated, the suspect was arrested and charged with residential burglary.Capt. Williams said the intruder has an extensive criminal history. Meanwhile, the homeowner, he added, is not being charged since he was in lawful possession of the firearm and acted in self-defense.

Only Philip Van Cleave speaks for the organization. Did you read his Important: VCDL statement about Lobby Day

Monday, January 20, is VCDL's Lobby Day.  It is not VCDL's Protest Day.

There is a distinct difference between the two.

Lobby Day is about, well, lobbying - sending a message to the General Assembly and to the Governor, Attorney General, and the Lt. Governor.  That message is simple: no more gun control that in any way, shape, or form negatively affects law-abiding gun owners. Bills that go after criminals or bills that are beneficial to gun owners are fine.

While there have been some verbal threats by the Democrat leadership to push major gun control down the throats of Virginia's gun owners and some very bad bills already filed to back up that threat, NOTHING has happened yet and won't until after January 8.  And perhaps it won't happen at all, if we press hard enough.

The sanctuary movement, with its absolutely massive turnouts of gun owners, is sending a deafening message to lawmakers ahead of Lobby Day.  On top of that, we now believe the size of the crowd on Lobby Day could be absolutely incredible, possibly historic, if gun owners from around the state follow through and attend as we believe they will.  You will absolutely want to be a part of this!

Militias

Various militia groups from Virginia and nearby states have graciously volunteered to provide security.  With a large Capitol, Richmond, and State police presence, not to mention enough citizens armed with handguns to take over a modern mid-sized country,  we have the security base covered nicely. That said, we welcome our militia brothers and sisters to be part of making the day a success! Some militia groups are looking to take canned food donations during Lobby Day and deliver them to a Richmond Food Bank.

Long Guns

If you are asking how you can help with VCDL's mission, carrying long guns at Lobby Day is not helpful - it is a distraction.  VCDL's important messages inevitably get lost as the press rushes to get pictures of anyone carrying an AR or AK. The stories then become about the rifle, not VCDL's agenda.  You can set your watch by it. Long guns are not easy to carry in a crowd, either. VCDL needs its voice heard loud and clear in order to able to stop the onslaught of gun-control bills.

Laws you need to know for carry in Richmond

You can't have a magazine in a centerfire rifle or pistol that holds more than 20 rounds unless you have a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). You must also have a CHP if the centerfire rifle or pistol has a threaded barrel or a folding stock.  Click here to see the code section, which also covers similar restrictions on shotguns: 18.2-287.4

Open carry without a CHP is legal in Virginia, but watch the restrictions in the previous paragraph.

You need a CHP to carry in the General Assembly or Capitol Building.  Once through security, you can carry openly or concealed in the buildings.  You cannot carry in the gallery over the Senator Floor. Keep an eye on these alerts.  Should any of this change, we will notify you here.

VCDL Lobby Day is a peaceful event about gun rights and NOTHING ELSE

We are NOT there to have arguments with the other side.  They lobby, we lobby, and never the two shall meet. Just ignore them.

And we are not there to push any other agenda.  Our total focus is on protecting our right to keep and bear arms.  Period. This is not about flags, statues, history, etc. Just guns.

If you somehow find yourself being harassed by the other side, don't engage them.  They could well be baiting you and recording what you do for propaganda purposes. If necessary, go find a police officer and let them take care of the person causing the disturbance.  Otherwise, just ignore them and go about your business.

VCDL has a great relationship with the Capitol Police, the Richmond Police, the Virginia State Police, and most other law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth.  We welcome their presence and are glad they are there to keep everything peaceful, while we work on the job at hand.

Bread man delivers heroics to foil armed robbery at Georgia fast-food restaurant

He was supposed to be making an early morning bread delivery, but truck driver Joseph Chilton delivered some heroics instead when he stumbled upon an armed robbery in progress at a Georgia fast-food restaurant, authorities said.

Trouble was already underway when Chilton arrived at a Hardee's restaurant in the Atlanta suburb of Ellenwood about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and spotted terrified employees running out a back door, according to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.

When Chilton realized a pistol-wielding man was allegedly holding up the business, he ran back to his truck and grabbed his gun, authorities said.

The suspect, identified as Damario Kentrell Parrish, "had jumped across the counter and pointed a weapon at a female employee demanding cash," according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

As the robber attempted to make a getaway, Chilton confronted him and a gunfight erupted, leaving the alleged crook wounded and limping off into a wooded residential area, where sheriff's deputies cornered him in a house, according to the sheriff's department.

"The bread man put his gun up. The robber put his gun up and the bread man shot him four times. "His [the suspect's] car was here, but he was able to stumble off into the woods," Keysa Roberts, the manager of the Hardee's, told ABC affiliate station WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Parrish surrendered when a SWAT team surrounded the home he was hiding in, officials said.

He was taken to a hospital, treated for two gunshot wounds and later booked into the Clayton County Jail.

Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill released a statement praising Chilton for intervening and risking his life.

Hill said he was so impressed with Chilton for "defending those who could not defend themselves" that he made the truck driver an honorary deputy and inducted him into the Sheriff's Posse Hall of Fame.

Mary Ann Reynolds, the Hardee's employee who held up at gunpoint, also applauded Chilton to thwarting the crime and possibly saving her from being harmed. Roberts told WSB-TV that the suspect had allegedly robbed the restaurant before.

"This young man [had] been here twice. The first, he hurt my employees," Reynolds said. "The second time, he jumped over and put the gun physically to me. I just did what he asked me to do."

Woman fatally shoots man who violated protective order

GRAY’S HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a Gray’s Harbor woman has fatally shot a man who broke into a home and violated a protective order she had against him.

KIRO-TV reported Thursday that police responded to the shooting late Wednesday after the 47-year-old man broke into the home armed with a knife.

A 60-year-old man at the home confronted him and during a struggle, a 36-year-old woman who was also at the home fatally shot the intruder.

The news station reports the woman had a court order prohibiting the man from contacting her. No one was arrested.

No further details have been released, including the names of those involved.

Detectives continue to investigate and have obtained a search warrant.

FLORIDA MAN GUNS DOWN ARMED ROBBER WHO TRIED TO TAKE HIS JEWELRY: 'DON'T PUT AN AK-47 IN MY FACE'

A Florida man said he was forced to gun down an armed robber who tried to take his jewelry.

Police officers arrived at the scene in the vicinity of Northwest 71st Street and Sixth Court in Miami in the early hours of Monday to find a man who was unresponsive with a gunshot wound, WSVN reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue, the station reported.

Donovan Stewart told CBS Miami that he had shot and killed the unidentified man after he broke into his van in a bid to rob him.

Stewart said he had been sleeping when the man knocked on the door of the vehicle and then became violent as soon as he opened the door, according to WSVN.

The 60-year-old said he had to act fast because he was concerned about his 11-year-old son and his girlfriend who were also in the van with him.

Stewart, who said he is a member of the NRA with a state firearms license as well as a concealed weapons permit, told CBS Miami: "I am going to defend my life and those I love. My family is innocent and just don't put an AK-47 in my face. I will not allow that to happen."

He added: "I am from Kingstontown in Jamaica and I am not going to go out like a punk. So I emptied my Glock in his chest."

Stewart added to WSVN: "He come to kill, he come for blood. And guess what he after? My jewelry."

Miami Police officer Mike Vega said the incident appears to self-defense, but said an investigation into the shooting is ongoing, CBS Miami reported. He urged anyone with information to call Miami Police.

Authorities have taken Stewart's gun and van in a bid to investigate what happened, WSVN reported.

According to CBS Miami, the man who was killed had allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint before his encounter with Stewart. Delilah Gaitor said she was "devastated" after the man had approached her at 6 a.m. on Saturday and taken off with her iPhone, her 2018 Volkswagen and $600 in cash.

"He had a gun and forced me to open my door," she told the station. "He told me to open, so I gave him my cash right away. I feel very relieved now."

She said it was "crazy" of the man to rob Stewart, especially while he was living in a van with his family. "He has a family and to do something like that while he was living in a van is not right," she told CBS Miami.

A liquor store owner in Port Jefferson, N.Y., fatally shot an assailant wildly swinging a samurai sword at him Oct. 3 around 2:30 p.m.

According to Suffolk County Police, the 50-year-old assailant walked into the store and, without warning, removed the sword from underneath his poncho, then began swinging it at the store’s owner. The owner had a gun behind the counter and fired one shot, killing the assailant. The incident was caught on the store’s security video.

“It seems to be, without saying a word, he pulled the sword out and swung it three times—at least three times—at a very close distance to the person behind the counter at the liquor store. At that time, the liquor store owner grabbed the gun and shot him once,” Suffolk Homicide Chief Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer said in a news report.

The assailant reportedly had a hunting knife on him in addition to the sword. His motives in the attack are unknown.

“From what we gathered, he’s had a troubled last few years,” Beyrer said.

Police confirmed in an email to America’s 1st Freedom that the store owner will not face charges and his gun is legal. Police declined to say whether it was a handgun, and the store’s video is unavailable to the public.

When the pastor announced it was time for the Lord’s Supper, she was excited–and hungry. The congregation filed up to the altar rail, and the child watched in confusion as her grandparents received a wafer and small plastic cup of wine. Pregnant Florida woman kills home intruder with AR-15

A pregnant Florida woman saved her husband and daughter's lives by killing a home intruder with an AR-15. 

The mom, who is eight months pregnant, retrieved the weapon after the intruders pistol-whipped her husband and violently grabbed their 11-year-old daughter last week.

“They came in heavily hooded and masked,” her husband, Jeremy King, told Bay News 9. “As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter.”

As the father was getting beaten, his wife went to the bedroom to obtain the firearm. She then fired one shot and hit one of the assailants.

“When he came toward the back door in her line of sight, she clipped him,” King added. “He made it from my back door to roughly 200 feet out in the front ditch before the AR did its thing.”

One of the two intruders was found dead in a nearby ditch, while the other is still on the loose.

King was left with a fractured eye socket, a fractured sinus cavity, a concussion, 20 stitches, and three staples in his head after the attack. He said his family didn't know the perpetrators, nor do they know why they were targeted.

• Aug. 18; Spartanburg, South Carolina—A shopper successfully protected himself outside of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store, shooting and killing a man who appeared ready to attack him with a 4-foot-long piece of lumber. The attacker had earlier been confrontational with the shopper inside the store, but appeared to leave after the shopper started walking down different aisles to avoid him. However, he had only gone to the parking lot to grab the lumber from his truck, and waited until the shopper came out of the store to threaten him again.

Man who robbed Barberton couple likely the same man shot and killed while trying to rob Akron man

BARBERTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A man says a robber held a gun to his head on Hazelwood Street in Barberton on Sunday night.

He and his girlfriend were walking around at about 9 p.m. when the suspect approached them from behind.

“I was calm, but I was scared,” she said.

They say they gave him their phones, but he was demanding money.

“I gave him everything, and he still was pressing. He still had the gun,” the victim said.

In that moment, a neighbor happened to pull up.

“I don’t know what the outcome would have been if this guy didn’t show up,” his girlfriend said.

They say police told them his name was Jontae Alexander.

19 News looked into his past. He has faced several drug and stolen property charges.

Police say as of right now no charges will be pressed against the man who shot Alexander.

• Aug. 28; Dallas—An 84-year-old man protected himself and his sleeping wife by shooting an armed home intruder, who then fled the property. Burglars had targeted the couple in the past and the man told journalists that he had decided not to be a victim anymore. He explained that the police can’t be everywhere at once, so “sometimes you’ve got to take responsibility of your own to protect your own.” The neighborhood crime watch leader agreed, saying: “If more people would shoot at the robbers or invaders, they would think twice about breaking into their homes. [They would think,] ‘Hey this person might be armed.’”

• Aug. 7; Lake City, Florida—A man used his firearm to protect his home against an intruder, attempting to hold the intruder at gunpoint while calling the police. The intruder fled but was later captured by law enforcement officers. An investigation later determined that the intruder, who had a lengthy criminal record, had been in the process of stealing rifles and a hunting knife from the homeowner.

Woman confronts intruder inside Eastern Shore home

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) -- Scary moments in a quiet Eastern Shore neighborhood Thursday morning during a bizarre shooting incident.

According to Baldwin County Sheriff's Officials, a woman taking a bath, confronts a female intruder, then opens fire, wounding her.

It happened on Collier Loop.

Baldwin County Sheriffs Investigators converged on the home Thursday morning after reports a woman was shot.

Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Captain Cliff Cadenhead said, "The current homeowner was actually in the bathtub and she had two young juvenile children who were in the house also, and the kids heard some movement or whatever going on in the house, would go out there and look and see someone in the house that shouldn't be in the house."

Sheriff's officials say the children told their mother and she told them to get out of the house

However, Cadenhead said, "But they didn't get out of the house, and she ended up getting a handgun. There was an initial confrontation and, then, there was a struggle over the firearm and it appears that the homeowner shot the person that got shot in the stomach."

The woman who was shot was flown to University Hospital in Mobile, but was alert and conscious.

Oveta Burkhart and her mother live a few houses away.

Burkhart said, "I heard the helicopters going over the house, then I heard one, then I heard another one shortly after."

Burkhart said authorities then came to her home.

She said, "I heard a knock at the door and I went to the door it was two police officers and they were asking me if I had heard anything and I said 'No, sir,' and he said there had been a shooting in the neighborhood and I was very shocked at that in this neighborhood."

Burkhart's Mother, Merilyn Pierce said, "The cops knocked on our door and told us what had happened and that everything was under control, and so we waited for a while, but it just kept on being more people coming and more cops coming, so we came out and sit and watched them."

Another neighbor, Daniel Womble, said, "It's surprising. It's a really nice neighborhood. I haven't met these people specifically, but I met a lot of people in the neighborhood and its always been a calm neighborhood."

Sheriff's officials have not released any names and say no charges have been filed right now.

Man making threats in McDonald’s drops knife after customer pulls gun, Ohio cops say

A customer with a gun stopped a man with a knife at an Ohio McDonald’s over the weekend, police say. 

A 22-year-old man made threats inside an area McDonald’s on Saturday with a knife in hand, Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post. 

When a customer eating inside the restaurant noticed the man had a knife, he confronted him, ultimately drawing a gun he had on his person, police say. The customer had a concealed carry permit.

NH Dad Pulls Gun on Intruder Until Police Arrive

Three days after a New Hampshire homeowner opened fire on a stranger who had broken into his home, a similar situation unfolded just a few miles away in the same city.
In broad daylight Wednesday afternoon, a man held an attempted burglar at gunpoint while his two kids witnessed the entire ordeal.
The homeowner said he was pulling into his driveway on May Street, his young children in the car, when he saw a stranger standing on his porch.
"I don't know who he is, I don't know his intentions, and I don't know why he's here," said David Cameron.
Once Cameron realized that man was trying to break into his home and steal his kids' bikes, he pulled his gun.
He carries it all the time, and while he's never before had to use it for protection, he says this is exactly why he has it.
"Because you never know who is going to do you harm," Cameron said. "I was at the zoo yesterday with my children. It was a great day, we had fun, and then there was a situation."
With 2-year-old Lincoln and 5-year-old Chase sitting feet away in the car, their dad held an attempted burglar at gunpoint.
"The guy like put up his hands and walked backwards," Chase explained.
Rochester Police say 37-year-old Nicholas Closson surrendered and was waiting for officers when they arrived at Cameron's home.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A 7-Eleven customer shot two people who were allegedly trying to rob the Virginia Beach convenience store early Thursday morning, killing one of them and injuring the other, according to witnesses and police.

The store is located in the 100 block of South Newtown Road.

The suspect who was survived was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police didn't immediately identify the person, and the severity of the injuries wasn't known.

WTKR spoke with a couple in the store at the time of the shooting, just before 2:30 a.m. They called the man a hero.

Police confirmed the man who opened fire had a concealed carry permit on him, and that the suspects were armed when they entered the 7-Eleven.

Earlier that night, there were three armed robberies that police believe are connected.

At 12:28 a.m., one armed robbery was committed at the 7-Eleven located at 1010 Pacific Avenue, according to police. During that robbery, three armed men entered the store and robbed the store of cigarettes and smoking devices.

Around 1 a.m., police responded to the 7-Eleven located at 3235 Chesapeake Boulevard for a commercial robbery. When police arrived, the clerk advised them that three men entered the store armed with guns. The men demanded money and the clerk complied. There were no injuries reported.

Around 2 a.m., police responded to the 7-Eleven located at 6667 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard for a commercial robbery. When police arrived, the clerk advised them that two men entered the store armed with guns. The men demanded money, and the clerk complied. There were no injuries reported.

Police believe these men were involved in the robbery that left one man dead. They also said they took a third person into custody near the 7-Eleven on S. Newtown Road.

Newport News Police also believe that a 7-Eleven robbery at 10:54 p.m. may be connected to the robberies in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. The robbery occurred at 10:54 p.m., and a clerk told police that three unknown men entered the business and took an undisclosed amount of cash and tobacco products after one of the men brandished a firearm.

No one was injured in the Newport News robbery.

This is the second deadly shooting at a 7-Eleven in Hampton Roads in the last two weeks. A 17-year-old Hampton boy was killed in a shooting at a 7-Eleven convenience store on July 12.

Police: Man who shot intruder at Camden home should be protected by Stand Your Ground law

CAMDEN, S.C. (WIS) - Police believe an early morning shooting in Camden during a home invasion was justified.

The shooting happened in the 700 block of Maggie Avenue around 4:15 a.m. Friday.

A lady was in her home with her boyfriend and several children when her ex-boyfriend tried to break in, police said.

The woman called 911, alerting dispatch of the situation and saying she had an order of protection against her ex-boyfriend.

A deputy with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office arrived within minutes, but the ex-boyfriend had already left the area.

But a short time later, the ex-boyfriend went back to the home. When he forced his way in that time, the woman’s current boyfriend shot the man inside the home, police said.

The ex-boyfriend ran from the home and was located by a KCSO deputy who called for EMS. Emergency crews rushed the man to the hospital and police say he is expected to make a full recovery

Police identified the man as Qurbbit Lewis Jones, 34, of Columbia. He is in custody. This story will be updated with his mugshot when it becomes available.

Jones faces charges of burglary, first degree and violation of an order of protection.

At this time, the current boyfriend, who has a valid concealed weapon permit, will not be charged with anything relating to this incident, police confirmed.

Officials believe the state’s Stand Your Ground law will protect the woman’s current boyfriend.

KCSO, Highway Patrol and Camden Police Department all responded to the shooting.

Lake Murray burglary calls new gun law into question

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A burglar who attacked and stabbed a Lake Murray man today during an early-morning confrontation in the victim’s house was fatally shot moments later by the wounded homeowner’s adult son, according to San Diego police.

This particular case is leading people to question the logic of the San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliot’s new law that would require gun owners to safely store their guns in either a safe or with a trigger device when not in use.

The home-invasion assault and shooting in the 6300 block of Lake Shore Drive was reported shortly before 6:30 a.m. Patrol officers arrived to find a 54-year old resident on the floor of the house, suffering from stab wounds to his upper body, Lt. Anthony Dupree said. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.

The body of the 38-year-old suspected burglar was found in a backyard pool, into which he apparently had fallen after fleeing the home, mortally wounded. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Homicide detectives were called in to take charge of the case. “Although it is early in the investigation, we have learned the homeowner confronted the (intruder) who had entered his home,” Dupree said.

“The suspect began assaulting the homeowner, at which point the homeowner’s 20-year old son retrieved a firearm and shot the intruder.”

The situation is making residents think twice about the new law that, if it were already in effect, could have altered the outcome of this burglary.

Tampa pastor holds suspected intruder at gunpoint until police arrive

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Tampa pastor held a suspected intruder at gunpoint while he waited for police to arrive, authorities said. 

Police said the Miguel Otero-Rivera set off the alarm system at the Seminole Heights Baptist Church shortly before 1 a.m.

Rivera had allegedly broke through a window, then broke several other windows and door frames while inside of the building, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage, according to the church’s pastor, Brant Adams.

The alarm company alerted Adams, who arrived at the scene and held the intruder at gunpoint until law enforcement was able to arrive.

Otero-Rivera was arrested and charged with burglary grand theft, possession of burglary tool, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The 12th fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.

The last fold, when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

Deputies: Homeowner shoots suspected car prowler in Kelso
FOX 12 Staff

KELSO, WA (KPTV) - A homeowner shot and wounded a suspected car prowler in Kelso early Thursday morning, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.
Just after 1 a.m., deputies responded to the report of a vehicle prowl in the 2100 block of Holcomb Loop Road.
The sheriff's office said the 9-1-1 caller reported her husband had fired a shot while confronting the suspected car prowler.
Once at the scene, deputies confirmed the homeowner shot the suspect and caused birdshot pellet wounds to the suspect's leg.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to St. John Medical Center for treatment. After being released, the suspect was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on an unrelated warrant.
The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
