Hi Guys,

I'm the "Urban Jaguar" who left the review on iTunes a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to follow up to say that in case there was any confusion, I really do love the show.

Chad: You do a great job hosting. Your calmness in keeping things running smoothly and moving along makes the show work.

Zane: I'm with you on the low-recoil ammo, brother. I've got a case of that same Federal ammo you mentioned downstairs in my ammo rack. Do full-power loads make bad guys deader? Also, to be clear, that crack about you and Sean was about Sean. You know the expression "if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck"? Well, I'm not making any particular assertions about Sean, but let's just say that when he's on the show with you he quacks, A LOT. By the way, what's funny about the work "precious"?

Tony: As a fellow veteran (I was a SeaBee), proud gun owner, and avowed liberal, I think the work you do with 2A4E and your Diversity Shoots is great. Thanks for that. By the way, something you said the other day about the Great American Outdoor Show made me laugh, because it reminded me of when I went to the show a couple of years ago. You had said you were going to be there one of the days that I was, and I hoped to run into you so I could say "hi", but figured I probably wouldn't be able to see you in the crowd. Then I got there, and realized that spotting you in that crowd would be about as hard as finding a black bean in a bowl of rice (no, we never did meet). One more thing: as someone who was touched by suicide recently myself (my Dad passed in December), my condolences to you on the death of your friend, and thanks for letting people know about the resources available to them if they're in crisis.

Rob: If I went too far by making you out to be the Mongo of the show, I apologize. What can I say? We kid because we love. No hard feelings, I hope. You mentioned a while back that you had to put one of your cats down, and as the owner of three cats and a tactical Pomeranian, I know how hard that can be, and you have my sympathy.

One last thing: given that Rob is the only person I've ever heard use the expression "dad gum" unironically, I wonder whether he's capable of swearing properly. In fact, I'm sure he's not. So Rob, my challenge to you is to prove me wrong by using the word "mother fucker" once, with feeling, during the show. I triple dog dare you. If I'm wrong, I pledge to donate $20 to the show on gunandgearcult.com.

Anyway, that's it guys. Love the show. Keep doing what you're doing. And if any of you ever find yourselves in Northern Virginia, you have an open invitation to come by my place, and the wife and I will throw some steaks on the grill and mix up some Mai Tais. Just give me a holler.

Later,

Chris

Let me be the millionth person to say that this is a truly entertaining and informative podcast, and I look forward to listening to it every week. It's like hanging out with a bunch of your buddies and talking guns, only in this case your buddies know what they're talking about, and can offer well-informed opinions. I learn something new in almost every episode, with a few laughs along the way. On a side note, given that the developmentally delayed are so often marginalized in our society, I think it's really great that they include Robb on the show. It warms my heart every time I hear him struggling through reading the disclaimer, knowing how precious it must be to him getting to spend time outside of his enclosure at the group home. TRIGGER WARNING: If sexual tension between two dudes makes you uncomfortable, do not listen to episodes where both Zane and Sean are on the panel. One last thing... If you'd prefer a podcast hosted by smarmy, sophmoric, alt-right MAGA bros, check out "We Like Shooting" instead. They're the Proud Boys of firearms podcasting.

Rusty O.

So when listening to your last episode you guys were talking about frangible ammo, it got me thinking about my home defense guns. I know you guys have talked about this a dozen times. I keep my G19 beside the bed with a light on it, I also have a Mossberg 590 and a AR pistol. I’ve always went back and forth between what is better between what I’ve read, ammo selection but my main concern is my children that sleep at the other side of the house down the hall. If you come in my living room or through my kitchen you cross the path of their room. I don’t want to over penetrate the person that is trying to cause harm and do something worse to my children. I have thought about switching to one of my .45acp rounds in either my G21 or 1911 platform (don’t let Zane go ballistic on me for that). For the shotgun I run #4 shot with a full choke. My thought behind that is to keep it tight and close together. Now to the AR pistol, it has a 10.5” barrel and I think I would go blind and deafen everyone in the house without ear pro when I touch it off. I do have a can in NFA jail but it doesn’t do any good at the time being. I am using Hornady 55gr soft point rounds I use for hunting. Is there a certain round that is better for the 556 that you would recommend? I thought about going up to somewhere in the 72gr soft point bullets. I know the 10.5 will bleed off a lot of energy, but is it enough in 50 to 75 feet to make a difference? Do I stick with the 9mm or am I over thinking this? Your thoughts on frangible ammo for home defense.

More “gun” guys that read websites as reviews claiming to review them. Total bias towards their likes with zero “valuable” information at any given time. This podcast should be private for them to listen to only to reminisce as we don’t know why you goof balls are laughing hysterically at “you had to be there” moments.

What is everyone's thoughts on the VR80? Thinking about replacing my old 870 with one and getting Carlson's Tactical chokes for it. Will be used for whitetail and Turkey. Considering the UTG pro FFP LPVO 1-8x28 to pair with it. Thoughts on this optic combo?

I have a question about AR mags. Well MFT mags in general. I’ve got a bunch of them and have always had good luck with them. I have a mixture of aluminum, Magpul and Hexmags. But here is the issue my wife had the other day. She did a reload after running the weapon dry and slapped the mag on its ass. Well it over traveled and locked the rifle up. Have you had this happen before? I didn’t see anything wrong inside and the mag still looked ok. I’ve popped a few mags before but never had any over travel like that. I’m not sure if she was smacking it way to hard or what.

Jay from Tactical Kinetics on barrel review

It has an 11-degree target crown up to about 3/8” diameter to just recess the face enough to avoid any incidental damage from impact on the end of the barrel.

We independently develop the gas port on what we would consider our “standard platform AR15”.. For that barrel, you should have a nominal aperture size of 0.063”

We install the barrel extensions to 150 ft.lb. of torque using an impact driver, and then a torque wrench to get it to final specification. Unless you’re one of the gorillas who used to tear apart Samsonite luggage on their commercials, you should have no issues with a barrel extension coming loose with our barrels.

I'm probably the only one who understood the email because in editing you beat it up - for example I mentioned the gun brands Tom Gresham likes and you edited his name out. I've done some research into Springfield vs. the 2nd amendment and what I found was llinois was going to pass a bill (SB-1657) requiring Illinois firearms to be licensed and "the Illinois Firearms Manufacturers Association (IFMA), Jay Keller, traded that group’s opposition to the bill in exchange for a carve-out, removing Prairie State firearms manufacturers from the licensing requirements." Now note that Springrield and Rock River Arms are the members of the the IFMA. I'm curious that you're critical of Springfields position on this bill, yet give Rock River a pass. I also want to point out, that IFMA trying to get a pass on its guns to require licensing in its own state while others outside have harder time translates to making the best out of a restrictive unconstitutional bill to try not to lose 'business' in its home state, not lack of support for the 2nd amendment. Confusion in communicating why they had changed from opposed to neutral on this bill also does not indicate lack of support for the 2nd. As I said, I find it odd to think a gun maker would not support the 2nd amendment, it simply makes no sense and if you step back, you'll see the you've given me nothing but assumptive evidence to prove that they are against the 2nd.

I need you to explain to me how a gun manufacturer, Springfield, can be against the 2nd. You say something about wanting to be the only licenses provider in a state, but that could be business.

Second I think you're very tough on their product. I have an 3" XD/2 and its a great gun. Baby gun shoots better than Glock 19. I'm not alone when listing quality brands to look at, he always mentions Springfield.

I originally discovered this podcast on Spotify a little over a week ago. Being a farmer in Iowa, this time of year I am spending anywhere from 12-18 hours a day in a combine or a tractor during which I listen to a lot of podcasts. I have listened to around 40 episodes in the last week or so and each is more entertaining than the last. All the hosts give great input on firearms and bring a lot of knowledge to the table. If I ever find myself in New Jersey, I would love to stop by Tony’s Diversity Shoot.

I listen to a lot of firearms related podcasts and most I get halfway or a bit more through and start to lose interest- especially the 1+ hour long ones. I have yet to turn off an episode early. The guys keep G&G short and to the point and there's not a lot of Captain Tangent side conversations. The funny thing is that most of the items they review don't really apply to me as a 1911/2011 shooter and an AR snob. But, who cares- I still get a lot of good reviews from them and at least they share my same feelings on Springfield Armory.
